3 Attachments You Always Need When Ordering Or Hiring An Excavator

Excavators are a vital part of many construction projects. But did you know that there are a variety of attachments that can be used with excavators to make them even more versatile?

When it comes to excavators, there are a few key attachments that you typically always need in order to get the job done right. In this post, we’ll look at three of the most popular excavator attachments and how they can be used to make your next project a success.

Breakers, Grabs, And Augers

Before we get into which specific attachments you need, it’s important to understand the types of excavator attachments that are available. Some of the most common types of excavator attachments are breakers, grabs, and augers.

As their name suggests, breakers are designed to break up concrete, asphalt, rock or other materials. They’re typically used for demolition projects or to clear an area for new construction.

Grabs, on the other hand, are used for excavating and moving materials. They can be used to grab and move rocks, logs, or other heavy objects. Grabs are also often used to clear debris from an area.

Orange Hire offers hydraulic breakers and manual or hydraulic grabs for hire. Manual options are great for demolition, as they don’t have hoses and cylinders that could potentially damage the machine or attachment. Hydraulic options, on the other hand, are best used when a higher level of power is needed, such as breaking through tough concrete slabs.

Augers are designed for drilling holes for footings, fences, or to bore holes for utility lines or to install piers, amongst other uses. Along with breakers and grabs, Orange Hire has hard rock, standard rock, earth augers, and clearing augers available for hire to help you tackle any job, big or small.

When regularly changing between breakers, grabs, augers and other excavator attachments on site, the right coupler system can make significant difference to productivity and efficiency. Learn more about using top-notch couplers to guarantee a more efficient job.

3 Excavator Attachments You Need

Now that you understand the types of excavator attachments available, let’s take a look at three of the most popular excavator attachments and how they can be used to make your next project a success.

The specific excavator attachments you’ll need will depend on the nature of your project. These are just some of the most commonly used attachments that can be very helpful on any construction site.

Bucket Attachment

One of the most popular excavator attachments for hire is the bucket. Buckets come in a variety of sizes and can be used for a variety of tasks such as digging, trenching, and construction site cleanup after using a breaker attachment.

When choosing a bucket attachment for your excavator, be sure to select one that is the appropriate size and weight for your excavator. Otherwise, you risk damaging your equipment or causing injury to yourself or your crew.

Auger Drive

Another popular excavator attachment is the auger drive unit. An auger is a rotating drill bit that’s often used to create holes for fence posts, poles, and trees. The auger drive unit attaches the auger to the excavator so that it can be turned on and off as needed.

When using an auger drive unit, be sure to wear proper safety gear such as gloves, goggles, and a hard hat. You should also make sure that the area around the hole is clear of debris so that the auger doesn’t become jammed.

Excavator Ripper Attachment

The excavator ripper attachment is commonly used for breaking up asphalt or concrete surfaces. It consists of a big tooth that penetrates the surface and then utilises the force of the excavator to break up the material.

Rippers are available in a variety of sizes and styles, so be sure to select one that is compatible with your machine before purchasing.
